Welcome to BabelBear!

Babel Bear is a humble team of three friends (myself, Jeremiah Sun and Vincent Chan). The idea is pretty simple: watch, request or create subtitles for YouTube videos. It's our mission to transcend borders, languages and disabilities so that we can all enjoy the same videos together!

Each week, the three of us get together to commit our own personal time to developing this project. I'd love to share some of the newer stuff we've been working on:

Create Subtitles (online) - There's no need for downloading an application, create subtitles completely in your browser with the BabelBear subtitle editor! Type directly on top of videos and publish them for all to enjoy! We currently support over 30 different languages.

Request Subtitles - find a video that doesn't have subtitles in your language? Request it and we'll notify you when those subtitles have been created! (Sign up required)

Swap Subtitles (Live!) - If a video has more than one set of subtitles, you can now swap between them without having to reload the entire page! (example)

Rate Subtitles - Help us make BabelBear the place for quality subtitles. Rate the subtitles you've watched!

Video Check - Located directly above this post, video check let's you see if a specific video has subtitles or not if you have the URL on hand.

User Pages - Now you can see the subtitles a user has made, as well as their requests. Help someone out!
